What inspired you to enter this essay contest?

I was inspired to enter the essay contest because the theme was interesting and related to me personally. Also, the prize money could really help me afford college.

Have you experienced a lack of intellectual diversity on your campus or in your community?

My school campus has very little intellectual diversity due to its small size, but my local community is very diverse. People from all backgrounds and values live and work there.

What do you think should be done to promote more intellectual diversity?

Intellectual diversity can be promoted by inviting speakers with differing ideals to campuses and introducing spaces where talking about different values is safe and calm.

What role do you think NeW plays for women?

NeW allows women a space to explore all sides of the political scale in order to make informed decisions. NeW is there during a time of personal change in most women’s lives and offers a judgement free sanctuary.
