The Network of enlightened Women (NeW), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the nation’s premier organization for conservative university women. With chapters on campuses across the country and young professional chapters, NeW educates, equips, and empowers women to be principled leaders for a free society. Annually, NeW hosts a Leadership Retreat, professional development events, campus and community events, and online programming.
About the Role
In this position, you will have the opportunity to grow NeW through media relations, our podcast, general communications, and digital marketing, alongside an experienced team and in partnership with top conservative female leaders nationwide.
This position requires a highly professional, organized, and proactive candidate, particularly in external communications. The Media Relations Coordinator will be responsible for growing NeW’s media presence by building and maintaining professional relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets, and by representing NeW clearly and professionally in all email and other communication.
A central responsibility of this role is managing the production and growth of The Conservative Woman’s Guide podcast in close collaboration with NeW’s President. The Media Relations Coordinator will plan and execute the podcast, including guest research and outreach, scheduling, and episode preparation, coordination, and follow-through. The Media Relations Coordinator will also identify and track meaningful performance metrics and come up with creative ideas for growth. This role requires initiative, organization, and the ability to manage the podcast proactively from concept to publication.
The Media Relations Coordinator will also manage the Student Media Fellows program and take ownership of keeping student op-eds on track. This includes working closely with fellows, providing clear guidance and training on op-ed writing and media interviews, maintaining individualized communication, and ensuring deadlines are met. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects independently are essential.
The Media Relations Coordinator will grow NeW’s brand by drafting, editing, and managing a wide range of materials for diverse audiences, including newsletters, social media content, press releases, blogs, articles, and media pitches. This includes article research. This person will write and publish content on the NeW blog, manage the website, research media contacts, pitch story ideas, and consistently follow through to keep media opportunities moving forward.
Additional responsibilities include providing marketing materials and training to chapters upon request and managing interns. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative, anticipates needs, communicates professionally, and is comfortable taking charge of projects from start to finish.
This role works collaboratively with the communications team to continue positioning NeW as the go-to source for the perspective of conservative young women.
Responsibilities
- Draft and send out e-newsletters.
- Communicate professionally and proactively with media.
- Draft and send out press releases and media pitches; Build relations with media.
- Work with NeW’s President and communications team on managing The Conservative Woman’s Guide podcast. Plan seasons and topics, schedule podcast interviews, draft scripts and show notes, and finalize episodes.
- Manage Student Media Fellows program, including recruiting students, planning sessions, and working with students on articles.
- Manage NeW’s website and blog. Draft and post original content.
- Assist with annual Essay Contest program.
- Work with NeW’s leadership to research topics for articles and prepare for interviews.
- Train students on media and writing op-eds and pitch their work out. Work with students to edit pieces for publication.
- Execute marketing and communications strategies and create content to grow NeW’s brand. Review and implement changes based on analytics.
- Create marketing and promotional materials for NeW programs as needed.
- Write compelling content for digital and physical marketing materials including social media, annual reports, blogs, and flyers.
- Assist with designing and producing marketing videos and social media clips including Instagram Reels, posting content to YouTube, and the weekly NeW Review.
- Travel to NeW events as needed to meet with media, capture photo and video content, and promote NeW’s work.
- Assist in managing communications interns
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of professional experience
- Willingness to travel ~10% – this number will vary, depending on the home location of the candidate and their specific skill set
- A bachelor’s degree (ideally in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field)
- Experience in media, marketing, or communications
- Detail-oriented
- Strong experience in managing projects and a track record of follow-through, growth, and success
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external audiences
- A strong work ethic and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Ability to multitask and set priorities
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines
- Demonstrated personal responsibility, accountability, honesty, and superb organizational skills
- Strong Microsoft office skills; Experience with Mailchimp and WordPress preferred
- A positive attitude and spirit of collaboration
- Demonstrated understanding of and strong commitment to the mission of NeW

The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) is looking for talented and motivated students for our internships. Interning with NeW provides the opportunity to work directly with the leadership of a growing nonprofit organization and use your skills to fight for ideas you believe in. As a NeW intern, you will become connected with a network of influential women leaders in politics and policy. Internships are available in the fall, spring and summer, and can be done remotely from any university. Part-time and full-time positions, determined on a case by case basis. Stipends are available for some intern positions and internships can be used for course credit. You will need to inquire into the requirements of your specific university for course credit.
