Chapter Leader Spotlight: Allison Stevens, NeW at The George Washington University

Meet Allison Stevens, President of NeW at The George Washington University.

How did you first hear about NeW?
I found NeW at the start of my freshman year because a few of the older women in College Republicans advertised it and it seemed like a great way to find a smaller, welcoming community on campus.

Why is having a NeW chapter on campus so important to you?
NeW is so important because it has helped me to stay true to my values and opinions by being around amazing, like-minded, and motivated women.

What has been your favorite memory or event with NeW?
My favorite events with NeW have been hosting former Congresswoman Mia Love on campus my freshman year and the White House tour we did my sophomore year where we got to see Marine One land on the White House lawn!

Why is NeW important?
NeW is important because college is a very liberal place which can be scary for young conservative women, so NeW helps to create a smaller community and help these women, such as myself, to feel comfortable sharing our views and gives us all the tools to succeed in school and professionally.

What advice would you give other conservative women on campus?
It can be hard feeling like you don’t “fit in” but you have to stay true to yourself and your values. Finding a group of like-minded individuals to lean on, such as the group I have found in NeW, can make all the difference.
