Chapter Spotlight: University of Florida

We caught up with the women from NeW at the University of Florida chapter. Learn about the great work these women are doing on campus from their e-board members.

Why is NeW important to your chapter?

Our NeW chapter has become one of the few comfortable environments for women who believe in freedom, family, and faith. It has encouraged our members’ sense of confidence and belonging. Through facilitating discussions on topics relevant to conservative women, a culture of learning has developed and it’s one we appreciate.

What kind of impact has your chapter had on campus?

Our chapter supports intellectual diversity by giving conservatives an environment that may not be as prevalent on campus. The UF chapter offers women a voice and a supportive environment in which they may share their opinions, grow as leaders, and have conversations about issues that are important to them. This empowerment has been extended to personal and professional settings, not just on campus.

What has been your chapter’s favorite event/meeting to host and why?

For this spring semester, it has been our Galentines Friendship Flowers event! All of the participants were able to enjoy some dinner, catch up with one another on how their semester is going, chat about future graduation plans, and mention some thoughts on the 2024 election. Being able to create such amazing friendships within NeW is such a blessing and we can’t wait to host more events like this one.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a chapter on their campus?

Don’t be afraid to start! It can be intimidating to start anything, but the great people and conservative women you meet along the way are what push you to be a proud NeW member. NeW becomes a safe place for you and other women who share the same values.
