Three Questions with Mary Katharine Ham, 2019 Empowered Woman of the Year, Part 3

NeW is thrilled to have Mary Katharine Ham as the 2019 Empowered Woman of the Year. Want to get to know her better before the National Conference on June 20-21 in Washington, DC? Join us for this 3-part series, “Three Questions with Mary Katharine Ham”.

What books should every conservative have on their reading list (in addition to yours of course!)?

Bulk up on classics of all kinds, fiction and non. Some of my faves: “Wise Blood” by Flannery O’Connor, “The Law” by Frédéric Bastiat, “We The Living” is my favorite Rand book and overlooked, “The Killer Angels” by Michael Shaara, anything by Michael Chabon simply because the writing is stunning, “Reagan in His Own Hand,” “Unbroken” by Laura Hillenbrand, “On Writing” by Stephen King because writing is a tool for your belt and he is wise about it, “Up From Slavery” by Booker T. Washington, “The Bonfire of the Vanities” by Tom Wolfe. Not a book, but the classic GQ piece “Ted Kennedy on the Rocks” by Michael Kelly, and in the same vein, anything by Andy Ferguson or Matt Labash.

Want to hear more from Mary Katharine Ham? Be sure to register for the National Conference where she will present her keynote address Friday morning.
