Anniversary

Celebrate another year of NeW at our annual Anniversary Celebration

Each September, chapters across the country honor NeW’s Anniversary by hosting speakers, book club meetings, and recruiting dessert parties, and in Washington, DC, NeW hosts an annual Anniversary Celebration bringing together college students, young professionals, alumna, and supporters of the organization.

NeW held its first meeting on September 29 at the University of Virginia. Rejected by campus feminists and frustrated by the lack of conservative principles in campus conversations, a group of women led by Karin Agness at the University of Virginia sought to cultivate a community of conservative women. Within six months, students at other universities heard about NeW and wanted to start chapters of their own. NeW has continued to spread one chapter at a time as young women across the country want to be a part of a group that not only educates but empowers conservative women.

NeW Members Celebrate the Empowerment of Conservative Women

Throughout the years, NeW women have come together to celebrate the organization that has given them a community and network of like-minded women on their college campuses and in their communities. At the annual Anniversary Celebration, NeW has hosted distinguished guests including Carly Fiorina; Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers; Alison Acosta Fraser, Managing Director of Research and Policy at the Charles Koch Institute; Genevieve Wood, Senior Advisor and Spokesperson for the Heritage Foundation; Ginni Thomas, social entrepreneur and special correspondent for The Daily Caller; and Ericka Andersen, Author of Cloud 9 and Digital Marketing Director for the Independent Women’s Forum.

How do you measure the impact of an organization? You might start by looking at metrics that are easily quantifiable: membership numbers, how many events the organization hosts, or its number of hits on social media. But that wouldn’t capture the whole picture. To truly know how much an organization has accomplished, you have to

Nine women from the chapter gathered at a local restaurant for a special birthday dinner to celebrate the founding of the national organization. The attendees toasted all that brought them together, especially NeW. They also found the meal to be a great opportunity for them to discuss current events and take a mental break from the stressors of classes and exams. The women loved getting together to celebrate NeW and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

NeW at the University of South Florida celebrated the 17th anniversary of the Network of enlightened Women’s founding on September 29, 2021.

Fifteen chapter members gathered for the first social event of the semester and enjoyed a night of painting and cupcakes. The women thought it was a great way to get to know each other better and to commemorate the milestone in NeW’s history. They left the event feeling better connected and proud to be a part of the organization.
