Women’s Group Launches GENTLEMAN OF THE YEAR COMPETITION
Contest for College and Under 30 Gentlemen
Washington, DC – The 2018 Gentlemen Showcase will begin accepting nominations for the contest to find America’s top College and Under 30 gentlemen on February 1. In the Showcase, men are nominated and compete for the title and the honor of designating a $1,000 donation to a charity of their choice. In addition, the winning gentleman of the College Contest will be awarded a Vineyard Vines tie and the winner of the Under 30 contest will be given a $100 gift card to Brooks Brothers. The winning nominators will be awarded a piece of Kendra Scott jewelry. For Valentine’s Day, and throughout the month of February, the Network of enlightened Women, known as NeW, hosts The Gentlemen Showcase to recognize, honor, and encourage gentlemen on campuses across the nation. In 2017, more than 100 young men were nominated in the College and Under 30 categories. Men were nominated from top schools, including American University, Clemson University, Colorado Christian University, Cornell University, Florida State University, George Washington University, Harvard, Penn State, University of Kansas, University of Virginia, and Washington & Lee University. The gentlemen chose various charities to support, such as The American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, The Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Toys for Tots.

The Showcase promotes mutual respect between the sexes at a time when we need it more than ever.

“The Gentlemen Showcase gives America the opportunity to recognize young men across the country who possess a strong character. At a time when we are having a national discussion about how women are treated in the workplace and relationships, this contest adds an important element by showcasing men who respect women and demonstrate kindness to all,” said Karin Agness Lips, NeW President. “NeW encourages equality and mutual respect between men and women. By praising gentlemen, we hope to inspire more of them.”

Elizabeth Bradford, a student at Florida State University who nominated the 2017 winner in the College Category, said this about the contest:
“In today’s popular culture, men are often put down simply because of their sex. The fight for equality of the sexes has become a fight to place women in a higher position than men. The Gentlemen Showcase proves that you can be for equality of the sexes and still appreciate the things that the men in your life contribute to our communities.”

Sponsors include Brooks Brothers, Vineyard Vines, and Kendra Scott.

The Network of enlightened Women is the nation’s premier organization for conservative university women. NeW educates young women on conservative principles, cultivates a community in which to discuss and strengthen these principles, and emboldens young women to speak out on campus and in their communities. NeW is identifying and educating the next generation of women leaders. In addition to campus and young professional chapters, NeW hosts an annual National Conference, hosts professional development events, including the Young Women’s Leadership Retreat, and nationally serves as a voice for conservative women.
