At American University, it’s so easy to get lost in the sea of liberals. People just assume you’re a liberal, but as soon as you make it known that you’re not, you are automatically questioned and judged. The good news is that despite what others think or say, I am a conservative and I am proud. I’m a conservative because I believe in personal and fiscal responsibility. I believe that innocent life is precious and valuable. I believe that big government is harmful. I believe that the role of the government is to protect and defend its citizens.

Yes my beliefs are unpopular and called into question time and time again, but my conservative beliefs are my beliefs. I’m not ashamed about being a conservative. Being a conservative woman makes me stronger and encourages me to work hard to achieve my dreams, instead of complaining about difficult circumstances. Being a conservative woman is empowering and something so special because I defy the conservative stereotype everyday. I am extremely proud to call myself not only a conservative, but a conservative woman.
