Senior Spotlight: Payton Smith, NeW at American University

As the academic year is coming to a close, the Network of enlightened Women wants to take some time to recognize our members who are graduating this semester and thank them for their hard work and dedication to our organization. This spotlight is highlighting Peyton Smith from American University.

What are your plans after graduation?
I’ll be attending law school at the University of Tennessee College of Law.

What is one thing you have gained from NeW?
I’ve met some of my best friends through NeW! NeW has provided me with a wonderful support system that has consistently encouraged me throughout my time in college.

What is your favorite part or memory of NeW?
My favorite memories of NeW were definitely made when I attended the Young Women’s Leadership Retreat in Ashland, VA during the summers of 2016 and 2017. I was able to meet so many amazing women and also heard from great speakers, such as Peggy Grande and Emily Jashinsky.

What is one piece of advice you would give to conservative women starting college?
If you don’t have a NeW Chapter on your campus, start one! It is an amazing way to meet passionate, intelligent, and driven women who will become your lifelong friends. I’m so thankful for NeW introducing me to my best friends at AU and I know that even after I graduate, they’ll always be there to love and support me.

Network of enlightened Women provides amazing opportunities for young Conservative females. Learn how to bring a Chapter of NeW to your campus here and help others learn about what NeW stands for!
