This December, we continue to highlight some of our exceptional seniors and celebrate their graduation. Meet Mary Rose Dillon, Vice President of NeW at Emmanuel College. In the spring, Mary Rose will be starting her Masters program in Elementary Education at Emmanuel College.
What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
Exercising your voice is not forbidden, but it does take courage on a liberal campus. It won’t be easy, and people will not always like you for it. Take the tremendous opportunity of a college education to sharpen your skills and deepen your knowledge. If you take responsibility for these parts of your education and focus your energy on learning you will grow and succeed.
How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has had a great impact on me throughout my college career and has helped prepare me for life after college. NeW has helped me with shaping my viewpoints in politics and world views. I have learned how to create my own argument and support it. This organization and campus chapter have helped me learn how to persevere when others judge me for my conservative views and build my self confidence to speak up for what I believe in.
