As the academic year is coming to a close, NeW wants to take some time to recognize our members who are graduating this semester to thank them for their hard work and dedication to our organization. This spotlight is highlighting Kimberly Burton, President of NeW at Temple University.
How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has allowed me to be a leader on my campus, and work with other like-minded women to create a community here at Temple. It’s helped me become more confident in my professional skills and public speaking abilities. I’ve made some great friends over the years and been able to network with women from across the country.
What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
I would tell a conservative woman just starting college that she shouldn’t be worried about being accepted. There are places on campus to find conservative communities, and if you don’t have one, you can start one! There are always ways to make a place feel like home and meet like-minded women. Also, don’t question your skills and abilities because your personal opinions may not be the same as your peers. If you can back up your views with facts and good logic, that’s what matters.
