Senior Spotlight: Jordan Mercer, NeW at College of Charleston

Congratulations to our graduating seniors and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.

Meet Jordan Mercer, president of NeW at the College of Charleston.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I enjoyed our NeW Tabling and Dinner, as well as attending CPAC.

What are your plans after graduation?
I have applied to law schools and am waiting to hear back.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
The more you stay silent, the more people will try to keep you silent, so speak up. If you are respectful, firm, and persistent about your beliefs, it becomes more difficult for others to ignore or suppress you.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
Leading NeW at College of Charleston has taught me a lot about leadership, which is crucial to my foundation as a law student. I have especially learned a lot about dealing with unexpected obstacles (such as COVID) and rising above adversity as a conservative student in a liberal academic environment.

Why is NeW important to you?
It gives me a band of like-minded women to speak up alongside me on campus. There is power in numbers.
