Senior Spotlight: Emma Foley, NeW at Boston College

Congratulations to our graduating seniors and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.

Meet Emma Foley, President of NeW at Boston College.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I loved attending Leadership Retreat and the NeW Student Media Fellowship.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
Finding friends on campus, in your building, or on a team who may not agree with you is important for growth; however, as soon as you can, seek out those women and men who share your values. It is crucial for formation during the college years that you have a community that has your back and wishes the best for you professionally, socially, and spiritually.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
I experienced a sharp decline in confidence upon coming to college that grew until NeW was established on campus my sophomore year. Once NeW became official and started to see major growth, my confidence only increased. With every event or gathering, every conversation among classmates, every interaction with the national organization, I saw myself transform into a woman of conviction and assurance.

Why is NeW important to you?
NeW belongs on every college campus. Its existence alone offers a collegiate conservative woman a place where she can experiment with her ideas, speak her mind, and find a community around which she may grow. NeW acts as the counter-narrative to most campus cultures — during a woman’s most formative years, having this “other option” for her to freely choose is vital.

The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) provides premier opportunities for young conservative women like Emma. Learn how to bring a Chapter of NeW to your campus today!
