Senior Spotlight: Elaine Gunthorpe

Congratulations to our graduating seniors, and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.

Meet Elaine Gunthorpe, President of NeW at Christendom College.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?

My chapter was able to host Selina Soule last semester in order to raise awareness of the on-going fight for women’s sports and keeping them female. I also participated in the planning of a watch party for the second republican debate with our College Republicans chapter – it was a very successful event with over 50 attendees watching the debate!

What are your plans after graduation?

I am planning on working in political media/digital marketing.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?

I would advocate for actively participating in on-campus clubs and activities. Also, joining any conservative women’s organizations or clubs can be very beneficial to overall growth especially as a freshman.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?

NeW has greatly benefited my overall growth and development as a young conservative woman in today’s society. I was able to learn skills and grow as an individual, which prepared me to take on new challenges that fostered my love for women-centered initiatives.

Why is NeW important to you?

NeW is important because it saved me; essentially, it acted as a ‘safe space’ for my beliefs and ideas to be openly discussed as an underclassman. I was lucky. I was lucky to find an amazing group of girls who over time became my closest friends and whom I still keep in touch with to this day even though they are already graduated.

The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) provides premier opportunities for young conservative women like Elaine. Learn how to bring a Chapter of NeW to your campus today!
