Congratulations to our graduating seniors, and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.
Meet Ashlyn O’Neill, Former Chapter Leader of NeW at Virginia Tech.
What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
My favorites were Gobblerfest where we recruited for our chapter and NeW coffee dates where we paired up members to be “buddies.”
What are your plans after graduation?
I likely will be going to grad school.
What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
I would say to be yourself. I tried to be someone I wasn’t and it was not until I really let my true self shine through that I made the meaningful friendships I know will follow me into life. People who spend too long being fake and untrue to themselves, are never happier. And even if that means being alone that is ok! College is hard and time to yourself is always needed which was something I did not really find out until this past year.
How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has given me numerous opportunities related to professional development even though my major is engineering and seemingly not related to anything having to do with politics. But the public speaking and networking skills that I have learned through NeW are top notch and I am forever grateful for everything the organization has given me.
Why is NeW important to you?
NeW was one of the very first things I joined in college and I could feel the welcoming environment right away. I made great friends, but more importantly, learned how to stand up for not only just my beliefs, but myself as a woman and a person.
The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) provides premier opportunities for young conservative women like Ashlyn. Learn how to bring a Chapter of NeW to your campus today!
