Congratulations to our graduating seniors, and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.
Meet Alexis Ridgway, Member of NeW at Radford University.
What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I loved being a part of the event with Riley Gaines because it really showed how many people just dislike her because what she stands for and don’t have an actual reasoning behind it. I also liked being a part of NeW ROCKS! It was fun to sit around and talk about whatever came to mind and get to know the members better.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to get my masters in special education at Radford University.
What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
It’s important to stand up for what you believe in and never change just because it might offend others. You cannot make everyone happy.
How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
Being a part of NeW has given me a space where I can share my options and not feel judged or like someone is going to jump down my throat for the things I stand for. Which is very important since I’m going into education where a lot of the topics are controversial.
Why is NeW important to you?
It’s given me a space and friends I can talk with about the topics I’m going to face as a future educator every day.
