Senior Spotlight: Abby Daniels, NeW at American University

Congratulations to our graduating seniors and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.

Meet Abby Daniels, President of NeW at American University.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I enjoyed the Leadership Retreat and the Capitol Hill Internship Summit.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
My best advice for conservative women starting college is to find a core group of like-minded individuals who share your values and will always have your back. NeW serves as a built-in friend group for conservative women and is a great way to become a part of a welcoming community on campus. Another point of advice is that your most valuable tool when presenting your conservative opinions on controversial topics is to maintain a front of kindness, respect, and confidence regardless of the pushback you may receive. Unfortunately, not everyone you will meet has an open mind, but for those who do, the best way to reach those individuals is through respectfully sharing your stance and listening to theirs.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has had a profound impact on me as a young conservative woman. By and large, I am most grateful for the opportunities NeW has provided to improve my leadership skills during my time in college. From being a chapter leader for my three years at American University to leading as an intern with NeW National during my final semester, I have been able to learn through experience and from the leadership of so many inspiring conservative women. NeW has given me the tools to become a more confident leader in school, in the professional world, and in my community. I can undoubtedly say that my time with NeW has left me educated, equipped, and empowered.

Why is NeW important to you?
NeW is important because in a time when conservative women often face hostility, especially on college campuses and in the professional world, it provides a community of women to support, encourage, and strengthen one another. NeW’s commitment to fostering intellectual diversity as a means for breaking barriers and broadening viewpoints is also critical to the educational aspect of the organization’s mission. Furthermore, not only does NeW provide opportunities for professional development and personal growth, but it also creates a space for conservative women to build lifelong friendships.

The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) provides premier opportunities for young conservative women like Abby. Learn how to bring a Chapter of NeW to your campus today!
