Women from American University, Catholic University, George Washington University, the University of Virginia, the NeW DC Professional Network, and friends of NeW came together on September 26 to celebrate NeW’s 15th Anniversary and the impact NeW has had with conservative women. The highlight of the evening was being joined by Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who gave an inspiring message, encouraging all in attendance to be proud of their conservative beliefs.

NeW staff members Karin Lips, Amber Downer, and Kathryn Alford, celebrate 15 years of empowering women at the celebration event.

Additionally, Karin Lips, Founder and President of NeW, shared her story about how she started NeW as a small book club while she was a student at the University of Virginia. She talked about how proud she is to have seen it grow and thrive on over 30 college campuses across the country. She highlighted that this speaks to the growing importance for a place on college campuses where conservative women can come together and have their voices heard.

Karin Lips with women from NeW at Catholic University cut the cake.

The rest of the evening was complete with cake, a photo booth, and the women reminiscing with one another on how NeW has shaped their personal and professional goals – enabling them to stand up for their beliefs and bringing them into contact with friends from across the country through leadership development, social events, and chapter-focused trainings. Here are what some of the attendees shared.

“NeW has been the best thing to happen to me in my undergraduate experience. It has been my favorite club, my best network, and has given me opportunities I never thought I would experience such as being a book contributor and doing interviews for CBN.” – Sophie Czerniecki, President of NeW at Catholic University

“I often look back at all the amazing people NeW has allowed me to interact with. The friends and leaders I have been able to learn from and growth with has been indispensable. But also, I had the opportunity to personally talk to so many incredible women leading policy debates and influencing nationwide opinion. None of that would’ve been possible without NeW.” – Ella Biggins, Former President of NeW at the University of South Florida and Member of the NeW DC Professional Network

“I joined NeW during the summer of 2015, while I was interning on the Hill my sophomore year in college. If it weren’t for NeW I don’t believe I would’ve had the courage to stand firm in my beliefs, because I knew I had the support from likeminded women in the District.” – Evonne Heredia, Member of the NeW DC Professional Network
