Meet Lila Sadler, Member of NeW at College of Charleston.
How did you first hear about NeW?
I first heard about NeW at a professional development conference. One of the speakers highlighted NeW as her highest recommendation for any young conservative women on campus who want to get involved in politics and society.
Why is having a NeW chapter on campus so important to you?
It’s an amazing forum to really talk about ideas, current events and what’s happening in the world. It’s a safe place to think new thoughts and challenge each other’s beliefs and be challenged to think deeper. I love the camaraderie, and the supportive, positive approach to making a difference in the world.
What has been your favorite memory or event with NeW?
I think one of my favorites was when we attended a local political club chapter. It was really encouraging to see how positively we were received by the more establish men and women in our community.
Why is NeW important?
NeW is an alternative voice on campus. It’s a supportive environment where you can really learn and think for yourself and make your own choices about what you believe, about what works politically, and about how you want to engage. It’s really encouraging to be surrounded by these powerhouse women who are out to change the world.
What advice would you give other conservative women on campus?
Get involved! Come try NeW, meet with the women, and try a club meeting! And don’t be afraid to get involved or give feedback – if you have a cool idea for how things could be done, we want to know about it. And, more than anything, I want you to know that you’re not alone. There’s an amazing group of supportive women waiting to welcome you!
