Leader Spotlight: Allison Santa Rita, NeW at Belmont University

Meet Allison Santa Rita, President of NeW at Belmont University.

How did you first hear about NeW?
I heard about NeW from Madison Kutruff. She reached out to Belmont College Republicans, and I loved all that NeW does so I wanted to start a club on Belmont.

Why is having a NeW chapter on campus so important to you?
Having a NeW chapter is important to me because there is lack of community for conservative women on our campus.

What has been your favorite memory or event with NeW?
My favorite memory so far has been announcing our club and receiving over 100 followers on Instagram in less than 24 hours. This was an amazing experience because it proved that not only is there a market and need for NeW on Belmont’s campus, but people crave it. We got 9 women to become NeW members at the national level within those 24 hours as well.

Why is NeW important?
NeW is important because it provides a community for conservative women that not only unites us, but also educates us.

What advice would you give other conservative women on campus?
The best advice I could give other conservative women on campus is to know your “why.” It’s easier to stand up for your beliefs when you have a strong reason. I fight for my beliefs because I am a Christian woman who wants to do good for God and keep his name present.
