WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION CHALLENGES GENDER WAGE GAP NARRATIVE

WASHINGTON, DC —The Network of enlightened Women, known as NeW, champions equal pay for women in the workforce and empowers women in their professional careers. In so doing, NeW challenges the narrative that women systematically earn approximately 20% less than their male counterparts just because they are women.

Liberal feminists have branded March 14 as Equal Pay Day – the day that symbolically marks how much longer women supposedly have to work in the next year to catch up to what men earned in the previous year. Equal Pay Day advocates argue that women in America make approximately 20 percent less than men just because of their sex. But this statistic does not take into account many labor choices that women make.

“Women and all Americans are best served when they have options on how they set up their work. Full-time work is not what everyone wants,” shared Karin Lips, President of NeW, “Many people would, and do, trade pay for flexibility. On Equal Pay Day, let’s celebrate the flexibility that many workers find so valuable.”

Lips is a nationally recognized expert on the gender wage gap. She has been published on this issue in Forbes, The Hill, U.S. News and World Report, Washington Examiner, Real Clear Education, and more.
