Leader Spotlight: Madison Bollweg, NeW at Augustana University

Meet Madison Bollweg, President of NeW at Augustana University.

How did you first hear about NeW?
I heard about NeW at CPAC earlier this year. There were two women handing out stickers to the NeW Women EmPower Hour event and they were bright pink, so I decided to take one. Then I received an email from Madison Kutruff, we set up a meeting about starting a chapter, and the rest is history.

Why is having a NeW chapter on campus so important to you?
I think it is so important to have a NeW chapter on campus because it gives conservative women a network of other like-minded women. Whether it is simply to have coffee and chat or to have someone to to just talk about politics with, it is so important that as conservative women we have a place on campus as well and not be brainwashed by liberal feminists on campus.

What has been your favorite memory or event with NeW?
My favorite memory with NeW so far has been the Leadership Retreat. After leaving Retreat, I felt so empowered to go out and help other conservative women have a voice on campus. It made me truly realize how important it is to be that example for other women on campus.

Why is NeW important?
NeW is important for a variety of reasons. It allows for conservative women to have a network of other like-minded women. It provides an outlet on campus to express our views and beliefs and take part in intellectual diversity. NeW most importantly empowers, educates, and equips women to be leaders on their campuses, in their careers, and in society as we go about our everyday lives.

What advice would you give other conservative women on campus?
My advice for conservative women on campus is to be bold and be strong in everything that you do. Be courageous and stand up for what you believe in, even if it’s not the popular belief. Don’t be afraid to speak up because there are many other women who most likely have similar beliefs but are waiting for someone like you to make the first move. Lastly, remember you have a community of strong, conservative women supporting you every step of the way and with every move you make right here in the Network of enlightened Women.

Learn how you can get involved with the chapter on your campus or find out how you can bring NeW to your school like Madison did. Contact us if you have any questions.
