We are excited to have Grace Ogden on our team this semester as our Fall 2020 intern. Grace is a junior at Cornell University where she is the President of the NeW chapter on campus.
Why is NeW important?
NeW is important to me because it brings like-minded, conservative women together to promote conservatism and create a community on liberal college campuses. Oftentimes, conservative clubs or College Republicans can be male dominated, so NeW is a perfect outlet for women who want to grow in their beliefs together with other women.
If you could offer advice to college students, what would it be?
Never be afraid to speak your beliefs, regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum. As a conservative woman, it can be scary to be outspoken on what you believe—from backlash from professors to being hated and talked about by peers—but it is critical that we stand up for what we believe and continue to bring ideological diversity to our universities and classrooms regardless of what people may think or say about us. We have the beautiful ability in America to speak our mind and we should not be silenced from fear of the left.
Why were you interested in interning for NeW?
I was interested in NeW after meeting the staff and other women involved at CPAC last spring. Before then, I didn’t know much about NeW outside of our chapter on campus, but after meeting so many great women involved with the organization, I really began to understand the importance of NeW, and I wanted to be able to continue to work with them and help them in every way possible.
What do you hope to gain from your internship?
Eventually, I would like to work at a conservative think tank or nonprofit, so I felt interning with NeW would be a great experience for this, as well as help me build connections to open up career paths in the conservative network in the future.
Are you a college student interested in supporting the empowerment of conservative women and bringing intellectual diversity to college campuses across the country? You can apply to intern with NeW today.
