Nicholas and I met the first night of college. He asked me on a date to an art museum the next day. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes before we went out I ate some bad Indian food and ended up vomiting all over myself and the floor. Rather than leaving and never speaking to me again, he walked me to my room, told me to take a shower, and came back up with saltines and some orange juice, remembering the night before I told him about my type one diabetes and how my blood sugar can easily drop.

Living with an autoimmune disease is incredibly hard, but he makes it so much easier. From little things to always making sure I have extra supplies in my bag to planning dinners out based on my blood sugar that day. Not only was he a complete gentleman from the start, but he has made it his goal to make sure I am always safe, happy, and most of all, healthy.
