Chapter Spotlight: The Catholic University of America

NeW caught up with the women from NeW at The Catholic University of America. Learn about the great work these women are doing on campus from their e-board members.

Why is NeW important to your chapter?
NeW is important to our chapter because we have a place where like-minded women on campus can be comfortable to discuss hot topic issues, such as family values. Having our chapter in Washington D.C. is especially unique because of the many people who disagree with the pillars of Network of enlightened Women. Due to our chapter being part of a Catholic campus though, we can incorporate God, family, and faith!

What kind of impact has your chapter had on campus?
Our chapter has had a great impact because there are many young women who want to find a place where they can speak with other girls. Catholic U’s NeW chapter not only spreads our conservative message across campus, but it is inviting to all women, even if they do not agree on every topic. We want to include as many people as possible and be an inviting place to create long-lasting friendships while also making change.

What has been your chapter’s favorite event to host and why?
Our chapter’s favorite event to host was the Congresswoman Kat Cammack event because she was able to share with a larger crowd the values we hold in our chapter. There were many outside attendees that did not know much about NeW but were able to learn more through having an elected advocate share her testimony. It was also very important seeing how Congresswoman Cammack has worked extremely hard to be a leader that all women can look up to.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a chapter on their campus?
The advice I would give to someone is to continue trying different events to try to expand the group to as many people as possible. There are some events that our chapter has had that have not been as big of a hit, so we try a different event that may bring people who had never heard of our organization before. No matter what, there will always be other people who would love to be part of the group and it’s important to find ways to recruit more women!
