Chapter Spotlight: NeW at the University of Tampa

This month, NeW caught up with the women from NeW at the University of Tampa. Learn about the great work these women are doing on campus from their e-board members.

Why is NeW important to your chapter?
Here at the University of Tampa, we want to be advocates for other women at the university who share similar beliefs to ours. We want to show them that it’s okay to be different, and we want to help them accept who they are and not be ashamed of it. NeW is an excellent way to help us achieve this goal.

What kind of impact has your chapter had on campus?
Our chapter here at Tampa has helped us to scope out other strong conservative women and welcome them into a loving and supportive group.

Executive board members from NeW at the University of Tampa and NeW at the University of South Florida went to brunch with Madison Kutruff, NeW Campus Program Coordinator, during her visit.

What has been your chapter’s favorite event/meeting to host and why?
Unfortunately, given that we started this chapter during the fall of 2020 when many campus-wide functions were suspended and limited due to COVID, we have not been able to host many events for the students of UT. We have, however, been able to meet up with other NeW chapters in the area and get to know members on the executive board from the other schools.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a chapter on their campus?
We know it’s intimidating because of the environment you are in being at college, but it is such a rewarding thing to start your own chapter. You meet some of your closest friends through it and you expand your own knowledge through the process of starting and running the chapter.
