This spring, we continue to highlight some of our exceptional seniors and celebrate their upcoming graduation. Meet Casey Rowzee, senior at The University of Virginia.
Casey is a Chapter Leader of NeW at The University of Virginia.
How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
I feel so lucky to have found NeW. Through it, I’ve met so many like-minded women who I might not’ve otherwise connected with. And with a few, I’ve made friendships to last a lifetime. NeW has taught me to stand up for what I believe in, as well as how to best articulate my opinions, no matter how “unpopular.” My time in NeW leadership has certainly built up my confidence. I so look forward to meeting other young professionals in DC through NeW. With this organization, there’s no limit to how many incredible women can be behind and beside you!
What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
In your conservatism, you might feel like you’re alone. You’ll be starting school in an election year, and the other side will be LOUD. But please know that you have like-minded peers. Though it might take longer for you to find each other, conservative women exist absolutely everywhere. And most importantly, your thoughts, feelings, and opinions are all your own. It only takes one newfound conservative friend, or perhaps one NeW meeting, to realize how valid your politics really are. With NeW behind you, you should be as brave and outspoken as you feel comfortable. You’ll soon realize that your network of fellow conservative women can be your greatest asset, and joy!
