Davis Fulghum is the ultimate personification of a gentleman. Currently a junior at the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs, Davis is earning his degree in International Relations with a Military Science minor. A life-long friend, Davis has consistently exhibited strong moral character, a compelling commitment to our nation, and respect for all those around him.
Since a young age, Davis has shown true dedication to his community. While maintaining employment throughout high school, Davis spent free time serving the elderly at my families’ nursing home. A charming and charismatic young man, his visits and smiles warmed many hearts. He has been civically engaged, fighting for his beliefs as a volunteer with the Republican Party of Manatee County. During his time in college he has continued his volunteerism. Davis has dedicated his time to making the University of Georgia better and positively impacting the lives of others. As a committee member with the University of Georgia HEROs, Davis has been steadfast in promoting the mission of providing quality-of-life care to children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. Consistent with his passion for serving others, Davis also serves as a mentor to children in a local middle school.
Davis’ leadership roles within his fraternity, Alpha Tau Omega, keep him actively involved in philanthropic activities. During a time where college campuses often lack diversity of thought, Davis has worked to make a difference, serving the University of Georgia’s College Republicans as a committee member.
Most significantly, Davis will be commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army after graduation. As a member of the University of Georgia’s Army ROTC, Davis possesses strong leadership capabilities as Captain of the Ranger Challenge Physical Fitness Team where he prepares cadets for Army Ranger School.
I believe true character is shown through one’s personal sacrifice. With an unwavering commitment to serving his country, Davis shows the character of an exemplary gentleman.
His foremost charity of choice is the Crosthwait Memorial Fishing Tournament. His Grandfather was a founding member of this organization which provides scholarships for secondary education and donates money to marine education programs, youth centers, and countless other programs in need of financial assistance. Each year, the Crosthwait partners with Project Healing Waters to serve disabled military members and veterans through fishing excursions with volunteer community members. Volunteering with the organization, Davis has seen first hand the impact the Crosthwait has on the lives of others.
Davis personifies every quality of a gentleman and I cannot think of anyone more deserving.
