The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) is dedicated to empowering conservative women and providing them with a platform to have a voice on college campuses. This past weekend, all the Texas chapters gathered for an unforgettable experience: attending the Rally for Life and taking a tour of the Texas State Capitol.
Rally for Life: A Shared Celebration of Life
The Rally for Life was a powerful and moving experience. It was inspiring to see people from all walks of life come together to celebrate the sanctity of life—a cause that is especially meaningful to many women in NeW. It was heartening to witness the collective passion and commitment of the Texas community in support of life.
One of the highlights of the rally was hearing from Representative Ellen Troxclair. As a young woman who shares the same deeply held belief in the importance of life, her words were incredibly motivating. Her presence reminded us that conservative women can—and do—make a difference in the political landscape.
Touring the Texas State Capitol: A Journey Through History
For many of us, this was our first opportunity to visit the Texas State Capitol. Our tour guide was incredible, bringing the history of Texas to life by highlighting the influential women who helped shape the state’s legacy. One of the most striking facts we learned is that Texas was the second state in the U.S. to elect a female governor, just four years after women gained the right to vote. It was a powerful reminder of how women have shaped Texas’ history and continue to do so today.
Fun Fact: The Texas Capitol is the largest in the United States!
Did you know the Texas State Capitol is the largest in the nation, standing 14 feet taller than the U.S. Capitol? We also learned that the House and Senate chambers have been meticulously restored to their original designs and are fully operational. Since 2025 is an odd-numbered year, our state representatives are in session. It was fascinating to hear that the representatives chose the historical art displayed in their chambers—another unique aspect of Texas’ rich history and culture.
A Memorable Experience for All Texas Women
This trip was more than just a tour or a rally—it was an opportunity to connect, learn, and feel proud of the incredible state we call home. It’s an experience I hope all young women in Texas have the opportunity to enjoy.
