After three months interning for NeW, I left DC inspired. Finally, I can put a strong arguments behind the issues I have always supported, but could never voice. I learned why free speech matters. I wrote a controversial article explaining why I believe life begins at conception. I can now advocate that being pro-woman means supporting yourself and motivating women to succeed, instead of driving them to play the victim card.
Most people assume that I’m a liberal feminist because I’m a teenage girl from a major city. I stand for self-expression without limitations, and I stand for my right to break the stereotypes of what my ideals are supposed to be. I am an 18 year-old female, and I am a college student, but I don’t think that anyone has the right to assume what I believe, because this is what a conservative looks like.
