Senior Spotlight: Abby Ahlstrand, NeW at Colorado State University

Congratulations to our graduating seniors and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.

Meet Abby Ahlstrand, secretary of NeW at Colorado State University.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I attended each weekly meeting as often that I could. During those meetings, we had discussions and activities. My favorite meeting I attended was the Veteren’s Day meeting because we decorated thank you cards for local vets thanking them for their service.

What are your plans after graduation?
My plan after graduation is to find a marketing job in Colorado and to start my future career.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
My advice to a conservative woman is to find your people. Finding a good group of conservative women can be hard on some college campuses, but NeW was like a second family for me. Another piece of advice is to stand your ground on your opinion and do not let anyone sway you in another direction — and turn those conversations into learning experiences for both perspectives.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW impacted me by giving me networking opportunities and making lifelong friends. NeW also gave me the opportunity to be a leader in a club and give my opinion on certain topics. That skill will be beneficial for me in my future career because business requires lots of group work.

Why is NeW important to you?
NeW is important to me because it has blessed me with many lifelong friends that I have made in the chapter. NeW has also given me a safe space as a woman to talk about my opinions and views on different subjects.

The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) provides premier opportunities for young conservative women like Abby. Learn how to bring a NeW chapter to your campus today!
