Intern Spotlight: Virginia King

Meet Virginia King, our summer Chapters Intern! Virginia is a freshman at Texas State University.

Q: How did you hear about NeW?

I first heard about NeW at Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit in the summer of 2023. NeW had a booth in the exhibitor’s hall, and I was immediately drawn to the pink decor!

Q: Why is NeW important?

NeW is so important because conservative women need a community where we can foster friendships with like-minded women and openly express our ideas without facing immediate backlash—especially on college campuses. NeW’s mission of “educate, equip, and empower” is also critical as it helps elevate young conservative women by educating them on policy, equipping them for the professional world, and empowering them to feel confident in their views. I cannot imagine how sad my freshman year of college would have been without having a NeW chapter on my college campus; that is how I met my best friends!

Q: What is the most important conservative issue in your opinion?

In my opinion, the most conservative issue is conserving the traditional family structure as it glorifies God, is the best for children, and is the fabric of a strong America.

Q: If you could offer advice to college students, what would it be?

Get involved in organizations on your campus! It will help you make friends, add something to your resume, and grow as a person.

Q: Why were you interested in interning for NeW?

I was interested in interning for NeW because I love NeW so much and want to give back to the mission that has already given me so much. I also wanted to develop my professional skills and get to know the lovely women who run NeW better.

Q: What do you hope to gain from your internship?

I hope to understand better how nonprofits operate, sharpen my professional skills, and develop closer relationships with the other NeW employees.
