Meet Manuela Jaramillo, Treasurer of NeW at University of South Florida.
What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I enjoyed NeW National retreat in Washington, D.C. in 2023.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will be attending Duke University where I will be pursuing a MS in Biomedical Engineering starting in Fall.
What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
Don’t be afraid to say your opinions. Maybe you’ll lose friends along your college journey, but the ones that you end up with are the ones that matter.
How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
They have offered me various professional development events ranging in a variety of fields. They have also exposed me to a wonderful group of women that I am fortunate enough to call my friends.
Why is NeW important to you?
It was a great environment to enter at a large and daunting public university. It offered me a safe haven where the girls I spent time with allowed me to express my opinions freely without any judgment.
