WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION TRAINS CONSERVATIVE LEADERS
TO ADVOCATE ON CAMPUS

WASHINGTON, DC — A whopping 71% of Democratic college students won’t go on a date with and 37% won’t be friends with someone who voted for the opposing presidential candidate, according to Generation Lab/Axios polling of 850 college students nationwide. This data reflects the intolerance many conservative women will face when they walk onto their college campuses this fall. This is why the Network of enlightened Women, also known as NeW, brings together top conservative female student leaders each year for the annual NeW Leadership Retreat.

This fall, more than 70 chapter leaders from across the nation gathered for the NeW Leadership Retreat in Austin, Texas to build relationships with other like-minded women, prepare for the academic year ahead, and empower one another to speak up about conservative principles.

Students from 41 universities, including American University, Baylor University, Boston College, Dickinson College, Georgetown University, Princeton University, Seton Hall University, University of Florida, University of South Florida, University of South Carolina, and University of West Virginia were in attendance.

Throughout the weekend, the women heard from a variety of speakers including, Allie Beth Stuckey, author of You’re Not Enough (& That’s Okay): Escaping the Toxic Culture of Self-Love and host of the “Relatable” podcast. She inspired chapter leaders with her message that they do not need to be influencers to have an influence on those around them. They also heard from Stacy Hock, private investor and former Texas GOP Victory 2020 Chairwoman, who discussed how to become a generation of difference makers and how they can have an impact at the state, local, and campus level.

Other speakers included Julie Warren, Director of State Initiatives for Right on Crime for the Texas Public Policy Foundation; Ellen Troxclair, small business owner, former Austin City Council Member, and author of Step Up! How to Advocate Like a Woman; Amanda Covo, CEO of Teneo; and Simone Ledeen, Principal at Perimus Consulting, LLC. Each of these speakers touched on the topics of advocacy and leadership.

“The speakers we heard from encouraged me to stand up for my values. I learned practical skills, such as how to write efficient emails, how to argue for conservative policies, and how to make my dreams a reality by making smart career decisions,” shared Erika Head, President of NeW at Oakland University, who attended the Retreat.

Another leader who attended the Retreat, Samantha Harris, President of NeW at Liberty University, said, “I really loved meeting everyone from across the country. We made great connections and unique friendships.” 

Following the NeW Leadership Retreat, chapter leaders returned to their communities and campuses with fresh ideas and a plethora of resources to build up their chapters and empower other conservatives to join the movement.
