From the time I was able to vote, I knew I wanted to be a conservative. It was difficult at first for me to admit that I was conservative with my friends because they were mostly liberal, and at the time I was not confident about my political ideology. However, now I am a proud conservative and I am not afraid to share my opinions and values even in a room full of liberals. It took a long time for me to become comfortable with that, but I think a lot of it comes from educating myself about what it truly means to be a conservative and being involved in conservative groups. Being involved in College Republicans and NeW on campus has helped me to find my voice and not be afraid to speak out. A lot of times as conservatives, we are questioned on our values and ideals because in college being a conservative is not the majority. Learning what it truly means to be a conservative and not being afraid to stand up for what you believe in is so important when talking politics and conservatism. Now that I have graduated, I want to continue my activism as a working adult. Becoming active and involved in causes I believe in is very meaningful to me, and I believe that it is time for young conservatives to stand up and get involved! No matter how much push back we receive, I feel that we should all get out there and do our part to stand up for the conservative way of thinking. It may not always be easy, but being a proud conservative is certainly a big part of who I am!
