Senior Spotlight: Catherine Cusma, NeW at Loyola University Maryland

Congratulations to our graduating seniors and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.

Meet Catherine Cusma, President and founder of NeW at Loyola University Maryland.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
We just founded our chapter this semester; however, we have hosted a NeW brunch to get some new members as well as on-campus events, such as going to masses and dinners together as a group.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I am not sure what I will be doing yet, but I have applied to many opportunities and look forward to getting involved in my home state’s conservative movements and organizations.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
Find your people and don’t be afraid. Don’t let others tell you or pressure you to believe in certain values, and if you are the small minority that feels a certain way, you can still make big changes.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
Although finding it later on in my college career, NeW has given me the confidence as a woman to make myself known and proud for what I believe in.

Why is NeW important to you?
NeW is important to me because so many young women find it hard to insert themselves into an atmosphere of activism and sticking up for conservative values on campus in fear of being shut down or ignored. It has been empowering to see younger classmates embrace their values and make strong networks on college campuses to continue to fight for their beliefs.

The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) provides premier opportunities for young conservative women like Catherine. Learn how to bring a Chapter of NeW to your campus today!
