WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION RESPONDS TO PRESIDENT’S COMMITMENT ON SUPREME COURT NOMINATION

WASHINGTON, DC — With the announcement of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s retirement and President Joe Biden’s commitment to nominating a Black woman to fill the seat, Karin Lips, President of the Network of enlightened Women, known as NeW, gave the following response:

“I am disappointed that President Joe Biden has limited the pool of potential nominees to the Supreme Court. He chose not to allow women to compete with men. Biden should pick the best person for the job, not the best woman. American women want equality of opportunity. Women achieve equality when they succeed based on merit, not because a man decides that a woman should have the job.”
