WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION CELEBRATES MEN OF SERVICE

WASHINGTON, DC — Since Gillette released their “Best Men Can Be” advertisement campaign last year, America has debated the influence of masculinity in our society today. Some believe young men have much room for improvement while others believe the gentlemen around us are not being given the recognition they deserve.

For ten years, the Network of enlightened Women, known as NeW, has supported the notion that there are gentlemen all around us. Through The Gentlemen Showcase, NeW encourages the country to recognize and celebrate the gentlemen that give back and serve on their campuses and in their communities. This program promotes that there are men around us that exemplify service, respect, and kindness – admirable traits that deserve to be highlighted.

Starting today, nominations for America’s “Gentleman of the Year” are open. After two weeks of nominations, the “Gentleman of the Year” and an Honorable Mention will be announced, each winning a scholarship. For this year’s Gentlemen Showcase, Kendra Scott of Georgetown and Vineyard Vines have donated generous prize packages for the winners and winning nominators.

Over the past 10 years, hundreds of young men have been nominated for the title “Gentleman of the Year”. Men have been nominated from top schools, including American University, Clemson University, Cornell University, Florida State University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, Harvard University, Penn State, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Kansas, University of Virginia, and Washington & Lee University.

“For ten years, the Gentlemen Showcase has given America the opportunity to recognize young men across the country who serve their communities, respect women, and demonstrate kindness to all,” said Karin Lips, President of NeW. “This positive program encourages equality and mutual respect between men and women. By praising gentlemen, we hope to inspire more of them.”

The Showcase has been featured by ABC News, CBS DC, New York Post, Red Alert Politics, The Atlantic, The College Fix, The Washington Examiner, and Townhall.
