WASHINGTON, DC—The Network of enlightened Women, known as NeW, announced that Kate Klunk, Pennsylvania State Representative for the 169th Legislative District of southern York County, will deliver the keynote address at the 2018 Young Women’s Leadership Retreat in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

“We are excited to have Representative Klunk speak at our annual Young Women’s Leadership Retreat. Kate is the type of conservative leader our attendees come to the Retreat to hear,“ said Karin Lips, Founder and President of NeW. “Kate’s experiences in Washington, DC working at the White House and serving the 169th Legislative District of Pennsylvania as a State Representative show conservative millennial women there are no limits to what they can accomplish. We are thrilled for her to join us at the Retreat, which attracts top conservative college women for four days of policy sessions, networking and training.” 

Prior to serving in the Pennsylvania legislature, Klunk graduated from Hanover High School where she was the class of 2000 Valedictorian and attended Dickinson College earning a B.A. cum laude in economics, history, and public policy studies. After graduation, Klunk moved to Washington, DC where she worked in the White House under George W. Bush as a member of his National Economic team and as a member of the communications team. Following her time at the White House, Klunk attended Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University where she received her J.D.

The 2018 NeW Young Women’s Leadership Retreat will be held at Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from July 26-29, 2018. This exclusive Retreat offers two tracks: one for rising college freshmen (current high school seniors) and one for current college students.  

Students will have the opportunity to participate in public speaking and debate workshops, learn to develop their networking and interviewing skills, and join a national network of outstanding leaders. Attendees will develop skills to help them thrive academically and professionally, all while having fun and building friendships. In addition, students will learn about national issues such as equal pay, health care reform, and how to make the government more effective. 

NeW is the nation’s premier organization for conservative university women. Started as a book club in 2004 at the University of Virginia, NeW has expanded to campuses across the nation, teaching conservative principles, creating open forums for debate, and training young women to speak out on campus and in their communities. In addition, NeW hosts a National Conference, The Gentlemen Showcase, and professional development trainings.
