WOMEN’S ORGANIZATION GIVES CONSERVATIVE WOMEN A VOICE AROUND UPCOMING ELECTION

WASHINGTON, DC — “A lot of women vote the way their husbands vote; they don’t believe enough in their own thoughts.” – Barbara Streisand

“Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice.” – First Lady Michelle Obama

These statements were made following the 2016 Presidential Election when Hillary Clinton lost to President Donald J. Trump.

Women everywhere were questioned for not voting a specific way. This is why the Network of enlightened Women, known as NeW, started the “Conservative Women Vote” campaign. This campaign gives conservative women a voice. And shows that conservative women should be included in the conversation about what women want.

“Here at NeW, we know that women, including conservative women, are intelligent and thoughtful. They vote for the candidates and the issue positions they truly believe are best for America. It is important to recognize women as smart voters, especially as we celebrated the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote this year. Next week, as America heads to the ballot box on Election Day, conservative women will continue to stand up for what they believe in, regardless of what other people tell them to think,” Karin Lips, President of NeW, shared.

We invited NeW leaders to share why they vote. Here are some of their responses:

“I vote because it’s my duty as a citizen in the United States of America and it’s incredible to have the opportunity to be able to vote as a woman. However, I do not vote for someone based on their political party or just simply because they are a man or a woman. I vote for them based on their policy positions and what I think would benefit Americans most.” – Charlotte Townsend, Co-Founder of NeW at College of Charleston

“I vote because I want to exercise my right that so many sacrificed for me to have. I want to participate in something larger than myself.” – Ashley Heskett, Alumna of the University of Michigan

“I vote because I care about my community and because I believe it is part of my civic duty!” – Julia Canzano, President of NeW at Boston College

“Coming from a family of immigrants that fled communist Poland, I’m so fortunate to be able to vote and have my voice heard for the things that matter to me. I vote because I can and my family members couldn’t.” – Sophie Czerniecki, Alumna of The Catholic University of America

“I vote because I can. One hundred years ago, women didn’t have that opportunity. In some countries today, women still don’t. We live in an amazing country that is free where we have the opportunity to have our voice heard every election cycle. I believe I should practice that right, we all should.” – Devan Coombes, Communications Director of NeW at the University of Virginia
