Meet Taheerah Smith, member of NeW at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I enjoyed attending the 9/11 memorial, which was a great opportunity to honor the victims of the tragic terrorist attack, as well as CPAC.

What are your plans after graduation?
I have accepted a position to manage Health and Wellness Services at Queens University of Charlotte. I have also been accepted into the MBA: Leadership and Change graduate program.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
I would say stick to your beliefs and what you know is right. It is important to listen and respect each other’s opinions, but don’t lose sight of yourself.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
It has helped me to speak with more confidence and embrace my political views. It has also given me a safe space to engage with others who are likeminded to me.

Why is NeW important to you?
NeW is important to me because it is a powerful fellowship of women who consistently encourage and empower one another to be the best they can be!
