Senior Spotlight: Katie Robbins, NeW at the University of Virginia

Congratulations to our graduating seniors and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.

Meet Katie Robbins, President of NeW at the University of Virginia.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has given me opportunities that have pushed me to think deeply about why I believe what I believe, opportunities to learn from and connect with incredible professionals, and opportunities to be a leader on my campus. I have been challenged, encouraged, and supported by NeW. Being involved with NeW for four years and serving as the president of my chapter for two years has made me a more confident woman able to talk about the issues that are important to me. Through NeW, I have met some of my very best friends. I am thankful for their encouragement and friendship. They have changed my college experience for the better and helped me become the person I am. I know I will carry these friendships with me after graduation and beyond.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
Find your people, keep learning, and use your voice. Surround yourself with people that respect you and your beliefs, even if they don’t share them all. Never stop learning about your beliefs and the issues or topics that are important to you – this often means learning from others, including those that have different opinions than you. I’ve learned that sometimes it’s best to listen before speaking, but never be afraid to own and share your beliefs. Your voice is more powerful than you know, use it!

The Network of enlightened Women provides amazing opportunities for young Conservative females. Learn how to bring a Chapter of NeW to your campus here and help others learn about what NeW stands for!
