Senior Spotlight: Julia Canzano, NeW at Boston College

Congratulations to our graduating seniors and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.

Meet Julia Canzano, President of NeW at Boston College.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I participated in ElectHer at Boston College and was a Student Media Fellow during the fall 2020 semester. ElectHer was incredibly empowering and gave me many resources to run for public office someday. I also loved the trainings from the media fellowship and the opportunity to write an op-ed on a topic I’m very passionate about.

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
I would tell a young, conservative woman to never stop fighting for what she believes in, and if she’s interested in getting involved in politics, to keep fighting to achieve her dream. The resources are out there, even if they can be hard to find at times.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has impacted my college experience in so many ways. From the leadership retreats in the summer to participating in the media fellowship and from taking the Opportunity Feminism course to meeting conservative women around the country at CPAC, NeW has positively shaped my college experience. It has taught me leadership skills and event planning skills that I will take with me into my career.

Why is NeW important to you?
NeW gave me a community of conservative women at a time when I felt like I couldn’t find any. NeW gave me so many opportunities and connections into the world of politics and has allowed me to connect with other conservative women on my campus. I wish I had joined NeW earlier, and I would recommend that every conservative young woman join NeW.

The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) provides premier opportunities for young conservative women like Julia. Learn how to bring a Chapter of NeW to your campus today!
