NeW caught up with the women from NeW at Sioux Falls. Learn about the great work these women are doing on campus from their e-board members.

Why is NeW important to your chapter?
NeW is important to our chapter because it provides many opportunities for those to get involved, whether they have an interest in politics or not. NeW has given our chapter something to hold onto that we wouldn’t have otherwise. NeW has been great to work with in allowing us those opportunities.

What kind of impact has your chapter had on campus?
Our chapter has had a huge impact on our campus. Our student government was against having us on campus, so we decided to start a club that includes the surrounding city and another local university. This ended up working out in our favor and helped us to recruit more women than we could’ve ever imagined.

What has been your chapter’s favorite event/meeting to host and why?
Our chapter’s favorite event so far has been our Great Shots event that we recently hosted. So many members came who couldn’t stop talking about it. We got to enjoy some great food and laugh a lot with each other. It was a great first start-up event for our chapter.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a chapter on their campus?
Our advice we would give to someone who wants to start a chapter on their campus is that you just have to go for it. You cannot back down to what your student government has to say. Persevere through the struggles, because it will all be worth it in the end. The feeling you get after hosting your first event is like none other.
