Congratulations to our graduating seniors, and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.
Meet Megan Bower, President of NeW at the University of Virginia.
What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
This school year I was involved with our book event with Karin, Friendsgiving, Women’s Basketball outing, and leadership retreat. Being involved with these initiatives helped me to feel a sense of community and become closer with like-minded women.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will be working as an engineer for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).
What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
Look for community with fellow conservatives, but don’t limit yourself to those folks. Find friends that you can genuinely be yourself with, and temper that being conservative is only one part of what makes you yourself.
How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has given me a space to meet others and make meaningful friendships. Especially as an engineer, NeW encouraged me to connect with people outside my major and get involved with conservative spaces.
Why is NeW important to you?
NeW helps me connect with like-minded women, especially on a liberal-leaning college campus. These friendships have been really meaningful and fruitful throughout my college career.
