Meet Darcy Bireley, Vice President of NeW at University of South Carolina.

What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I loved participating in Leadership Retreat and ConSERVative Month.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I am working for a real estate law firm as a paralegal and getting married in June!

What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
Join clubs and branch out! College is a scary place as a freshman and finding groups that share the same ideals and hobbies as you makes it feel a lot more manageable. Don’t try to fit in with groups that don’t suit you. It may take some time, but you will find girls who you connect with– especially when you join NeW.

How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has taught me how to be firm in my ideals, while also preparing me professionally. Throughout their many campaigns and events, I have learned how to dress professionally, how to ace an interview, and how to properly advocate for what is right.

Why is NeW important to you?
NeW is important to me because when I first started college, I was constantly bombarded with liberal ideas and told that my ideals were not correct. It made me feel out of place and scared to speak out. Finding NeW helped my confidence immensely, as I found girls I could relate to and shared my political views. Past this, I found some of my forever friends and for that I will be forever grateful to NeW!
