Chapter Spotlight: West Virginia University

NeW caught up with the women from NeW at West Virginia University. Learn about the great work these women are doing on campus from their e-board members.

Why is NeW important to your chapter?
NeW allows conservative women to build a community of friends who share many of the same values. The resources NeW provides have been important for building leadership skills and professional development. NeW also helps members become more educated about politics and conservative policies.

What kind of impact has your chapter had on campus?
At WVU, we’ve focused on providing an opportunity for conservative women across campus to connect and become friends through social events like brunch, pumpkin painting, and more. We’ve also had opportunities to hear from amazing speakers and become more informed about conservative policies. We’ve learned about a wide range of topics, everywhere from pro-life policies to criminal justice reform.

What has been your chapter’s favorite event/meeting to host and why?
So far, our favorite has been the shooting event that we had last year at our local gun range. It was a great opportunity for everyone to learn how to shoot and become more familiar with firearm safety. Many of the members in the chapter had never used firearms before, so it was exciting for them to finally learn. (provigil)

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a chapter on their campus?
I would tell someone interested in starting a NeW chapter to find some friends that are interested and go for it. While it’s a lot of work, especially at the beginning, it’s worth it because of all the opportunities your NeW chapter will have.
