Congratulations to our graduating seniors and thank you for your work with NeW! We are pleased to spotlight some of our outstanding chapter leaders and members.
Meet Madison Vice, president of NeW at the University of Mississippi.
What were some of your favorite events that you participated in with NeW?
I loved having the opportunity to attend the NeW Leadership Retreat in August 2021 because I was able to cultivate friendships with women from all across the country who share my conservative beliefs, while also developing my leadership and professional skills.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to attend the University of Mississippi School of Law in the fall with the goal of becoming a corporate lawyer.
What advice would you give to a conservative woman starting college?
There will be times when you have a professor or peer whose political and social beliefs are the polar opposite from your own. They may make you feel like you should hide or be ashamed of what you believe in, but don’t be — you can be both unapologetic and kind at the same time! Respect their opposing values, but demand that same respect for your own.
How has NeW impacted you and prepared you for your next steps?
NeW has shown me just how powerful women who are motivated and passionate about a situation can be. NeW has made extraordinary strides in advocating for representation of conservative beliefs on college campuses, and this inspires me to continue voicing my beliefs and encouraging others to do the same. NeW has prepared me for life beyond graduation in May by providing me with an invaluable skillset, from leadership skills to networking skills to simply building healthy friendships.
Why is NeW important to you?
NeW has constructed a community that seeks to spread liberty-minded ideals to women my age. From my own college experience, I have found that within these formative years is when we are most impressionable. Without the strength and support of NeW, I may not have found the courage to share my beliefs because of the ridicule and demonization conservatism faces in today’s society and mainstream media.
The Network of enlightened Women (NeW) provides premier opportunities for young conservative women like Madison. Learn how to bring a NeW chapter to your campus today!
