On October 16, 2021, NeW at the University of Tampa and the University of South Florida came together to celebrate former United Kingdom Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in honor of her birthday.
Women from both of the chapters hosted a tea party with different hand foods, baked goods, and tea. They celebrated in British fashion and discussed Thatcher’s life and role in politics. The shared event gave everyone the chance to meet more conservative women and have a bigger space to share their beliefs and values without judgement.
“It was so great meeting the USF women in their NeW chapter. This was a great way to connect with the larger national NeW program, and I can’t wait for our next event!” University of Tampa member Shannon Braumann said.
“I was so grateful for the opportunity to connect with women from the Tampa chapter, and I really enjoyed our conversations about Margaret Thatcher and what being a conservative woman means in the 21st century.” Darien, member of NeW at the University of South Florida, said.
