YWLR Spotlight: Bailey Chapman

July 11, 2017 | Diana Stancy

Meet Bailey Chapman! Bailey is a rising sophomore at the University of Alabama where she is currently establishing a NeW chapter. Raised in Louisville, Kentucky, she served as captain of her field hockey team after playing for 12 years. When she isn’t on the field, she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and Gamma Phi Beta sisters.

Why were you first interested in NeW’s Young Women’s Leadership Retreat?

I was initially interested in the Young Women’s Leadership Retreat because I’ve always enjoyed hearing new perspectives and meeting new people.

What do you hope to gain from attending NeW’s YWLR?

I hope to gain skills that will help me be successful in college and in my adult life. Also meeting new people and with that, new ideas.

What are you most excited about in the YWLR line-up?

Members of my family have worked in the business side of healthcare for decades, so I’m looking forward to learning more about Obamacare and its “Feminist Fail.”

What are you most looking forward to in college next year?

Living with my sorority sister/best friend, meeting new people, and learning more about myself are a few of the things I’m looking forward to. But what I’m really looking forward to is football season and hopefully winning another national championship. Roll tide!

It was freshman year, and I had just “outed” myself as a conservative for the first time at college. “[Since] I ‘came out’ as a conservative,...
